Woods

Solid or Engineer Woods?

As it sounds; solid wood is a solid piece of timber, cut from a tree milled into a plank, kiln dried and that is pretty much it.

Engineered wood flooring has a bit more work involved as they consist of a multi-ply, cross-laid backing with a veneer top layer of a selected species and design. Therefore, due to its construction, engineered flooring is more dimensionally stable and can be installed in areas where solid wood is not compatible.

Each has their specific use and is dictated by your lifestyle and specific needs, although visually identical once installation has been completed.

Solid wood has been used for hundreds of years but please note; it should be installed in a moisture-controlled environment therefore it is not recommended for areas such as cellars, basements, conservatories or over under-floor heating systems.

Engineered wood flooring is typically easier to install for the DIY customer, and offers a wider range of design, styles and finishes.

Solid and Engineered wood are a good choice for flooring if you’re looking for something natural, environmental friendly and  long lasting. We carry many different types of engineered  woods from suppliers such as Max Windsor, Eternity Floor, Oasis Express, Neotech, Granada and etc…

7-Ply Birchwood Core, ½” Thick, 4¾-5″ Wide
Random Lengths: 1-4’
2mm Wear Layer, Engineered

Windsor Smooth has a more formal esthetic, exuding charm and sophistication, and is an ideal background for traditional furnishings.

Using a proprietary method of construction we call cold pressing, dimensional stability and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity are built into every board. This technique resists moisture and prevents delamination, crowning, cupping and separation of seams, even in extreme climates.

Windsor is backed by our 25-Year Performance Warranty, and is produced in facilities which have been certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) as meeting the standards for preserving the environment.
